A method is provided for treating a meibomian gland of an eyelid of a patient. In a particular embodiment, an obstruction in a meibomian gland and the orifice thereof can be alleviated in another, a substance can be injected thereinto in yet another, the gland can be aspirated. The method includes the step of inserting an elongated probe into a meibomian gland via an orifice thereinto. In some embodiments the probe can have a longitudinal lumen therethrough, with at least one distal hole through the probe wall in fluid communication with the lumen. The lumen can be used in concert with a source of suction for removing debris from the meibomian gland, and/or with a source of a fluid and pumping means, for injecting a substance into the meibomian gland.Linvention concerne une méthode de traitement dune glande de Meibomius sur la paupière dun patient. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, une substance peut être injectée dans ledit orifice. Dans un autre mode de réalisation encore, une aspiration de la glande peut être réalisée. La méthode selon linvention consiste à insérer une sonde allongée dans une glande de Meibomius par son orifice. Dans certains modes de réalisation, la sonde peut comprendre une lumière longitudinale, au moins un trou distal formé dans la paroi de la sonde étant en communication de fluide avec la lumière. Cette lumière peut être associée à une source daspiration pour éliminer les débris de la glande de Meibomius et/ou à une source de fluide et un moyen de pompage pour injecter une substance dans la glande.
