PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To search a plant extract exhibiting a skin-lightening action and a skin-beautifying action and its active ingredient.
SOLUTION: The skin care preparation for external use comprises a buckwheat chaff extract. The buckwheat chaff extract comprises orientin, isoorientin, vitexin, isovitexin and rutin derived from buckwheat chaff. Therefore, the skin care preparation exhibits both a skin-lightening action by the tyrosinase inhibiting ability and an antiaging action by an elastase inhibiting ability.
