The masticatory unit includes a tooth receiving surface having a plurality of recesses for receiving teeth of the alveolar arch. A shape memory mesh is arranged between the tooth-receiving surface and the alveolar arch, wherein the shape memory mesh is configured to store the shape of the teeth in target tooth positions to guide movement of the teeth toward the target tooth positions from initial tooth positions. A buffer member is disposed between the tooth receiving surface and the shape memory mesh.
