The present invention relates to a cutting unit (2) composed of severalsections (4, 6),with a middle section (4) comprising the connection elements (8) with whichthe middlesection (4) can be attached to a carrier device, and with at least one sidesection (6) whichis connected by an articulated connection (12) to the middle section (4) andabout whichthe side section (6) can pivot between a lower and an upper limit value,wherein the carrierdevice comprises a device for the height adjustment whose adjusting movementsarecontrolled by a control.It is suggested that the cutting unit (2) comprises a sensor (14) whichtransmits a sensorsignal to the evaluation device (16) at least upon a pivoting movement of theside section(6) when a limit value has been achieved during the pivoting motion of theside section(6) to the middle section (4), the evaluation device (16) switches upon thepresence of acorresponding sensor signal into a correction mode for the height adjustmentof the carrierdevice, and the evaluation device (16) outputs an adjusting signal in thecorrection modewith which the carrier device is adjusted up or down by the evaluation device(16)according to the sensor signal.
