PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piece of a buttress material and an end-effector for a surgical instrument which enable a surgeon to attach the piece of the buttress material to the end-effector properly and quickly.SOLUTION: In various embodiments, the piece of the buttress material has retention features which are engaged with each part of the end-effector to releasably retain the piece of the buttress material to at least a part of the end-effector. Similarly, the end-effector includes the features configured to engage each part of the piece of the buttress material to releasably retain the piece of the buttress material to the end-effector.
