A device for automatically counting gregarious animals by multi-checkpoint sensing is provided. The device is installed in a specific region like a fruit plantation or agricultural land to automatically count gregarious animals (such as oriental fruit flies) in the region. The device is characterized by: at least two object sensing modules for sensing whether a fruit fly has entered a container, wherein initially a first object sensing module is set to ON and a second object sensing module to OFF and the second object sensing module being switched to ON as soon as the first object sensing module is touched wherein touching the second object sensing module increases the count by 1.
