The present invention relates to an apparatus (10) and a method for cleaning and disinfecting a fill valve of a beverage filling system which fills a container with a filling material. The device (10) comprises a cap (20) and a valve (30). The cap (20) has a through opening (22) for discharging the disinfection medium during disinfection and closes the filling outlet of the filling valve during cleaning and disinfection. The valve (30) opens and closes the through opening (22).
