Specifically, the motion registration device comprises one or more sensors (20-1, 20-2, ..., 20-m) configured to provide sensor data associated with a movement of the motion registration device (1). The device further comprises a control unit (10) configured to receive the sensor data. The control unit determines a movement pattern of the motion registration device (1) out of a plurality of movement patterns of the motion registration device (1) based on at least the received sensor data. At least a first movement pattern out of the plurality of movement patterns is associated with a false alarm event and at least a second movement pattern out of the plurality of movement patterns is associated with an activity type of the motion registration device. If the determined movement pattern is a false alarm event, the control unit enters a motion registration device sleep mode for a sleep period.
