A system is disclosed having a wearable device that, together with a cognitive model, are able to analyse a person to determine if they are in the flow and/or guide the person to get into the flow. The system and processes help persons to find their unique formula to achieve flow. By using a cognitive Al engine, the system can describe a space of mental states and the actions that cause transitions between them for each individual. Physiological data, which can be heart rate, galvanic skin response or accelerometer data from a sensor is use in combination with a set of states to transmit a policy to a user interface to guide a user to achieve the flow state. A graph or model may be used in this process as well as transitions and associated probabilities.
