A neck brace (10) has two legs (14) with a gap (18) between them and the legs (14) extend on either side of the wearers neck (11) and along the front of his torso (13). Shoulder protuberances (20), and chest protuberances (25) extending laterally from 5 each leg (14), are received underneath the shoulder straps (23) of a harness, in the region of the wearers shoulders (21) and chest (13), respectively. A recess (26) is defined on an underside of each leg (14) between the shoulder protuberance (20) and the chest protuberance (25) to form a beam (27) that is elevated above the wearers chest (13). Each leg (14) and its associated chest protuberance (25), 10 define a channel (30) in which one of the shoulder straps (23) of the harness is receivable to be held captive.
