Surgical visualization devices are provided which include a fixation device having at least one camera coupled to the fixation device wherein the camera includes at least one lens that is directed outwardly from the upper surface of the fixation device such that when the fixation device is inserted in tissue the at least one lens is oriented away from the tissue for capturing images of the anatomical site. Systems and methods utilizing the surgical visualization apparatus are also provided.
