A OBJECT IS TO PROVIDE AN ION GENERATING APPARATUS AND A AIR CLEANER THAT CAN EFFICIENTLY MIX IONS GENERATED BY AN ION GENERATING PART INTO AIR TAKEN IN BY A FAN, CAN REDUCE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE AMOUNT OF IONS GENERATED BY THE ION GENERATING PART AND THE AMOUNT OF IONS IN A ROOM, AND CAN INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF IONS IN THE ROOM. AN ION GENERATING APPARATUS HAS: A HOUSING (1) HAVING AN INTAKE PORT (11) AND AN EXHAUST PORT (12) A FAN (2) HAVING AN IMPELLER (21) AND A CASING (22) ACCOMMODATING THE IMPELLER (21), AND ACCOMMODATED IN THE HOUSING (1) A FILTER (3) PASSING THE AIR TAKEN IN THROUGH THE INTAKE PORT (11) BY THE FAN (2) AND TWO ION GENERATING PARTS (51, 52) GENERATING POSITIVE IONS AND NEGATIVE IONS. THE ION GENERATING PARTS (51, 52) ARE ARRANGED IN AN ARC-SHAPED GUIDE WALL (22A) OF THE CASING (22). THE POSITIVE IONS AND THE NEGATIVE IONS GENERATED BY THE ION GENERATING PARTS (51, 52) CAN BE EFFICIENTLY MIXED INTO AIR FLOWING IN A STATE OF LAMINAR FLOW ALONG THE ARC-SHAPED GUIDE WALL (22A).
