PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent medical material having excellent moisture content, stainproof property, antibiotic property or the like.
SOLUTION: The medical material contains a polymer acquired by copolymerizing 2-38 wt.% of monomer having an imidazolium salt structure and 62-98 wt.% of methacrylic monomer having a hydroxyl group. Preferably the polymer includes and is copolymerized with 0.1-10 wt.% of monomer having two or more polymerizable groups. The methacrylic monomer having a hydroxyl group is preferably a hydroxyalkyl methacrylate and is particularly 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate. The medical material is used as an ocular lens, endoscope, catheter, infusion tube, gas transportation tube, stent, sheath, cuff, tube connector, access port, drainage bag, blood circuit, wound dressing and medicine carrier, and is preferably used as an ocular lens.
