PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating patients with hepatorenal syndrome type 1 (HRS type 1 or HRS-1).SOLUTION: The present invention avoids unnecessary administration of a drug to patients who are critically ill because of the surprising discovery that terlipressin is very effective in patients exhibiting certain criteria but is not effective in patients that do not meet these criteria. Principles and embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to methods of treating HRS-1 patients by administering terlipressin to obtain reversal of the HRS-1.
