An ophthalmic shunt implantable in an eye having an elongate body (20) and a conduit (50) for conducting aqueous humor from an anterior chamber of the eye to the suprachoroidal space of the eye. The elongate body (20) has a forward end (22) and an insertion head (26) that extends from the forward end (22). The insertion head (26) defines a shearing edge (28) suitable for cutting eye tissue engage thereby. The forward end (22) and the insertion head (26) of the body (20) define a shoulder surface (30). The conduit (50) has a first end (52) defined on a portion of a top surface (27) of the insertion head (26). The conduit (50) also extends through the body (20) from the forward end (22) to a back end (24) thereof. The first end (52) of the conduit (50) is spaced from the shearing edge (28) and, in one example, from the shoulder (30) of the body (20).
