The present invention relates to novel cationic yellow dyes of formula (1) wherein R1 and R2 are each independently of the other a C1-C8alkyl radical or an unsubstituted or substituted benzyl radical, R3 is hydrogen, C1-C8alkyl, C1-C8alkoxy, cyanide or halide, preferably hydrogen and X is an anion, with the proviso that at least one of the substitutents R1 is a benzyl radical and R2 is a methyl radical, R2 is not hydrogen, also to compositions therof, especially comprising other dyes, to processes for the preparation therof and to the use therof in the dyeing of organic material, such as keratin, wool, leather, silk, cellulose or polyamides, especially keratin-containging fibres, cotton or nylon, and preferably human hair.Linvention concerne de nouveaux colorants cationiques jaunes représentés par la formule (1), dans laquelle R1 et R2 représentent chacun indépendamment un radical alkyle C1-C8 ou un radical benzyle non substitué ou substitué, à la condition quau moins un des substituants R1 et R2 représente un radical benzyle non substitué ou substitué, R3 représente hydrogène, alkyle C1-C8, alcoxy C1-C8, cyanure ou halogénure, de préférence hydrogène et X représente un anion, à la condition que lorsque R1 représente un radical benzyle et R2 représente un radical méthyle, R3 ne représente pas hydrogène. Linvention concerne également des compositions desdits colorants, comprenant notamment dautres colorants, leurs procédés de préparation et leur utilisation pour colorer des matières organiques, telles que la kératine, la laine, le cuir, la soie, la cellulose ou les polyamides, notamment des fibres contenant de la kératine, du coton ou du nylon, et de préférence des cheveux humains.
