A compressed core for a pharmaceutical dosage form comprising a mixture of (a) at least one pharmaceutically acceptable organic acid, and (b) at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient is described. Such compressed core is useful for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions containing a drug in which dissolution of the drug is favored in acidic environments.
