PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide peptides and antibodies directed thereagainst which can be used to diagnose, prevent, and treat amyloid-associated diseases, such as Type II diabetes mellitus and Alzheimers disease or the like.SOLUTION: There are provided peptides having at least 2 amino acids and no more than 15 amino acids. The peptides comprise amino acid sequence X-Y or Y-X, wherein X is an aromatic amino acid and Y is any amino acid other than glycine.
