The tablet verification system obtains prescription drugs to be formulated at a pharmacy and collects information about the tablets to be dispensed for a remote pharmacist to verify the prescription drugs. When the tablet to be formulated is dispensed into the tablet bottle, the tablet imaging system captures an image of the tablet, and the tablet bottle imaging system captures an image of the tablet bottle. The prescription, tablet image, and tablet bottle image are transmitted to the remote verification system. The pharmacist is presented with a prescription, an image of virtually all tablets that are formulating the prescription drug, and a pill image of the prescription drug to verify that the prescription drug is correct. Remote verification systems can present prescription drugs that are formulated from many different pharmacies, thereby increasing the rate of verification and allowing a single pharmacist to support many pharmacies.
