The present invention relates to a novel vaccinia virus, which is deficient in thymidine kinase from recombinant vaccinia virus SLJ496, and to a composition for preventing or treating cancer, comprising the same. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a novel vaccinia virus with excellent effects in inhibiting cancer metastasis and oncotropic properties on the basis of the recombinant vaccinia virus SLJ496. According to the present invention, the novel vaccinia virus has high oncotropic properties, and exhibits the activities of inhibiting the cancer metastasis. Particularly, the novel vaccinia virus exhibits effective cytotoxicity in a cancer cell strain which exhibits anticancer drug resistance. Therefore, the novel vaccinia virus can be used as a virus drug, which exhibits significantly higher effects than conventional vaccinia virus.본 발명은 재조합 백시니아 바이러스 SLJ496에서 티미딘 키나아제가 결손된, 신규한 백시니아 바이러스 및 이를 포함하는 암의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 또한, 본 발명은 재조합 백시니아 바이러스 SLJ496를 바탕으로 종양 친화성 및 암 전이 억제 효과가 우수한 신규한 백시니아 바이러스를 제조하는 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 신규한 백시니아 바이러스는 종양 친화성이 높으며, 암의 전이를 억제하는 활성을 나타낸다. 특히, 항암제 저항성을 나타내는 암세포주에서도 효과적인 세포독성을 나타내는바, 종래의 백시니아 바이러스보다 유의적으로 높은 효과를 나타내는 바이러스 치료제로서 사용될 수 있다.
