Ambulatory monitors and related methods employ an adhesive layer with conductive and non-conductive regions to improve electrical isolation of electrodes. An ambulatory monitor includes a biocompatible layer, first and second electrodes, an adhesive layer, and a physiological data recording module. The adhesive layer is interfaced with the biocompatible layer and configured to adhere the biocompatible layer to the users skin. The adhesive layer has a first conductive adhesive region comprising a conductive adhesive electrically coupled with the first electrode, a second conductive adhesive region comprising a conductive adhesive electrically coupled with the second electrode, and a non-conductive adhesive region comprising a non-conductive adhesive. The non-conductive adhesive region serves as an electrical insulator between the first conductive adhesive region and the second conductive adhesive region. The physiological data recording module is configured to store physiological data of the user generated from an electrical signal from the first and second electrodes.
