1. A device for occluding a hole in a fabric comprising a first flexible wire and a second flexible wire, each of the first and second wires consisting of a shape memory material, each of the first and second wires being given the first and second geometric shapes so that the first geometric shape the first wire and the first geometric shape of the second wire form the first plate in the first plane and the second geometric shape of the first wire and the second geometric shape of the second wire the second plate in the second plane, which is parallel and remote from the first plane, and wherein the first and second plates are separated by a waist formed from two sections of the first wire and two sections of the second wire. 2. The device according to claim 1, wherein the first geometric shapes of the first and second wires are generally semicircular. The device according to claim 1, wherein: the first plate contains a first disk and the second plate contains a second disk. The device according to claim 1, further comprising a coating on the first plate, the second plate, or on both plates, which provides a seal for occluding the hole. The device according to claim 1, wherein the waist is self-centering. 6. The device according to claim 1, in which both the first geometric shape and the second geometric shape contain essentially the same geometric shapes. The device according to claim 1, wherein the first geometric shape is generally oval. A device according to claim 1, wherein the first geometric shape is generally triangular.
