Reduced pressure arising, limits mist formation. The recirculation direction is selected accordingly, for the treatment. The moisture required is supplied by sprinklers. On exceeding specific limits, air recirculating in the room is replaced by external air. Effluent air passes through a chemical after-treatment to free it from odor and dust, control being effected externally. Further variants of the process, which include turning of the compost, are described in accordance with the foregoing principles. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
