Apparatus for forming an edible food product comprising:an ultrasonically activated rotary wheel and one or more cutting tools disposed on the outer surface of the rotary wheel wherein each cutting tool has an inner cavity and one or more ventilation channels are provided to allow air to flow between a cavity in the cutting tools and the surrounding air. Elements for use in the apparatus and the use thereof are also described and claimed.
