A composition comprising an albumin composition is described that inhibits or reduces epithelial-mesenchymal metastasis (EMT). In an embodiment, the composition comprises albumin, i) free of pro-EMT agents or low concentrations of pro-EMT agents； ii) a content of a pro-EMT agent and an anti-EMT agent in a ratio of 7: 3 to 0: 10: anti-EMT agent； Or iii) both. Pro-EMT agonists are octanoic acid, octanoate salts or combinations thereof. The anti-EMT agent is a C9-C14 fatty acid, a salt of C9-C14 fatty acid, a monoglyceride of C9-C14 fatty acid, a diglyceride of C9-C14 fatty acid, a triglyceride of C9-C14 fatty acid, or a combination thereof. Use of the albumin composition for various therapeutic applications based on albumin, more particularly for the treatment of diseases or conditions in which EMT should be prevented or minimized. The albumin composition can be advantageously used in combination with known active ingredients.
