PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical stapler of a new composition.SOLUTION: A surgical instrument 100 includes a staple cartridge 104 which can alternatively be held in a surgical floor formed in the distal of a surgical stapler and in the distal of a surgical stapler, and is placed side by side to a staple floor. The staple cartridge leaves one or more spaces in the transverse direction and includes a row of staple slots formed on its upper part surface, two or more surgical staples mutually placed within the staple slots, and a staple line strengthening system which is formed and suited so that a staple line formed by discharging the surgical staples into body tissues is to be strengthened.
