A method of providing support for an organ in the body of a patient comprises providing a support element with a first portion coupled to a first anchor and a second portion coupled to a second anchor through an aperture. The support element has a central portion between the first and second portions comprising a ribbon-like filamentary element. The first anchor is attached to a first tissue portion at a first location lateral to the organ. The second anchor is attached to a second tissue portion at a second location lateral to the organ. Tension of the central portion between the first and second anchors is adjusted by moving the second portion through the aperture in the second anchor so that the central portion of the support element provides a sling-like support for the organ.L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de fournir un support de type ligamentaire entre deux emplacements espacés dans le corps du patient, qui consiste à fixer à chaque emplacement une ancre, à relier les ancres au moyen d'un élément filiforme, à régler la tension dudit élément entre lesdits emplacements de façon à établir la relation spatiale voulue entre ces emplacements pour produire entre eux au moins un support ligamentaire supplémentaire. Un dispositif de retenue (189) destiné à soutenir le dispositif d'ancrage assure la fixation dans le tissu et un appareil d'introduction (173) destiné à supporter le dispositif de retenue sert à appliquer l'ancre au tissu.
