An image projection device includes: a light source 10 that emits a laser beam; a control unit 30 that generates an image light beam based on input image data, and controls emission of laser beam 40 from the light source 10; a scan mirror 12 that scans the laser beam 40 emitted from the light source 10 to convert the image light beam into scan light 42; a projection mirror 24 that is disposed in front of a user's eye 50, converges the scan light 42 at a convergence point 62 in the vicinity of a pupil 54 of the user's eye 50, and then irradiates a retina 52 with the scan light 42 to project the image on the retina 52; and a reflection mirror 22 that converges the scan light 42 scanned by the scan mirror 12 at a convergence point 60 in front of the projection mirror 24, and then irradiates the projection mirror 24 with the scan light 42; wherein in the laser beam 40, a ratio of an optical path length between the reflection mirror 22 and the convergence point 60 to an optical path length between the scan mirror 12 and the reflection mirror 22 is substantially the same size as a ratio of an optical path length between the convergence point 60 and the projection mirror 24 to an optical path length between the projection mirror 24 and the convergence point 62.
