A method comprising the steps of: identifying a variety of different anatomical subregions of the subject's cardiovascular system in the image data of the subject, based on a subject-specific cardiovascular anatomical model, with many different areas corresponding to the areas where calcification occurs; search and identification of calcifications in subdomains, based on the intensity values of the gray value for voxels in the image data; a signal is generated that points to one or more voxel regions in the image data corresponding to subdomains containing the identified calcifications. 2.
