PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clutch device of a spinning reel, which can quickly return a pinion gear to a clutch-on state by the rotation of a handle without enlarging a distance between the handle and a spool.SOLUTION: The clutch device 25 comprises the first clutch-engaging portion 44, the second clutch-engaging portion 48, a clutch lever 60, a clutch control mechanism 62, and a return mechanism 64. The clutch lever can be swung between the first position and the second position. The clutch control mechanism 62 has a moving mechanism 68 and a holding member 69. The moving mechanism moves a pinion gear from a clutch-on position to a clutch-off position in response to the swinging of the clutch lever. The holding member holds the pinion gear on a spool shaft 14 at the clutch-off position.
