An artificial retinal prosthesis system has an external unit and an artificial retinal chip. The external unit includes a light generator and an image projector. The light generator is used for illumination. The image projector receives an input optical image and provides a projected image derived from the input optical image. An artificial retinal chip includes a light removal unit set in the illumination range of the projected image and the light, an image sensor set in the coverage of the light removal unit, and a solar cell. The solar cell receives the illumination, and provides electric power to the image sensor.
