PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire for a catheter having excellent guide property in a branch blood vessel, etc. and safety property in breaking while securing flexibility and restorability.SOLUTION: A guide wire 10 for a catheter includes: a core grid 12 having a body part 10b and a tip part 12b and a coil part 14 for covering the outer periphery of the core grid. The body part on the proximal side of the core grid is formed by a shape memory alloy. The tip part connected to the body part and extending toward a distal side is formed by stainless steel or the bond/alloy of stainless steel and a shape memory alloy.
