The present invention relates to a method for promoting germination of Panicum miliaceum seeds, which comprises a step for mixing the Panicum miliaceum seeds with diatomaceous earth and water until water potential of the seeds reaches -1.3 MPa to -0.5 Mpa at the temperature equal to or lower than the optimum temperature for the germination, so that the method is specialized for the Panicum miliaceum seeds, required number of days for germination of the Panicum miliaceum seeds is greatly shortened, and the germination speed can be remarkably improved.본 발명은 기장 종자를 그 발아 적온 이하의 온도에서 소정 시간 상기 종자의 수분 포텐셜이 -1.3MPa 내지 -0.5MPa가 될 때까지 규조토 및 물과 혼합하는 단계를 포함함으로써, 기장 종자에 특화되어, 기장 종자의 발아소요일수를 크게 단축시키고, 발아 속도를 현저히 개선할 수 있다.
