Pesticide residues in fruits and vegetable pose major threat to human health which can be termed as a cancer pre-causer. In the present investigation mixture of hydrogen peroxide, sugar and ethanol are employed with ferric salt as a catalyst in the method of removal and decomposition of pesticide residues from surface and upper epidermis of plant tissues. In the practice of method, fruits and vegetables containing an organic compounds having at least one oxidisable aliphatic or aromatic functional group are soaked in washing solution for 30 minutes and washed with clean tap water which shows the substantial decrease in pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables.
