According to one embodiment of the present invention, an information providing apparatus using an electrode pad having a variable structure for enabling a user to recognize three-dimensional information of an object comprises: an electrode pad attached to the body of a user and including a plurality of electrodes realized in a matrix form； a sensor unit obtaining three-dimensional stereoscopic information on at least one of a shape and a distance of a surrounding object using a sensor； and a pad control unit assigning one of functions of an electric stimulation function, an electric cutoff function, a grounding function, and a skin resistance measurement function to each of the plurality of electrodes and providing an electric stimulus for recognizing the surrounding object to the user by controlling an operation of each of the plurality of electrodes to which the functions are assigned.본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 가변 구조의 전극 패드를 이용한 정보 제공 장치는 사용자의 신체에 부착되고, 매트릭스 형태로 구현된 복수의 전극을 포함하는 전극 패드, 센서를 이용하여 주변 물체의 형상 및 거리 중 적어도 하나에 관한 3차원 입체 정보를 획득하는 센서 감지부, 및 상기 복수의 전극 각각에 전기 자극 기능, 전기 차단 기능, 접지 기능, 및 피부 저항 측정 기능 중 하나의 기능을 할당하고, 상기 기능이 할당된 복수의 전극 각각의 동작을 제어함으로써 상기 사용자에게 상기 주변 물체를 인지시키기 위한 전기 자극을 제공하는 패드 제어부를 포함한다.
