PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sterilize a wide mouth container having a flange with disinfectant of a small amount.
SOLUTION: The outer circumference of a body part 2 of a wide mouth container is surrounded by a skirt wall 6 extending from the outer circumference of the wide mouth container 1 to a bottom surface side of the wide mouth container. Mist of disinfectant b is blown toward the wide mouth container from a slit 8 opposite to the opening and the bottom surface of the wide mouth container and extending in the direction across the traveling direction of the wide mouth container while the wide mouth container is continuously moved in the direction parallel to a flange surface together with the skirt wall. When blowing the mist to the wide mouth container, a traveling passage of the wide mouth container is covered by baffle plates 30a, 30b, 30c, 30d extending parallel to the opening and the bottom surface of the wide mouth container before and behind the slit. Then, the disinfectant is dried by blowing hot air a toward the opening and the bottom surface of the wide mouth container from a slit 7 extending in the direction across the traveling direction with respect to the wide mouth container with the disinfectant being deposited thereon.
