An optical coherence tomography apparatus (100) includes a multi-beam configuration unit (110) comprising at least a first optical path (148) having a first numerical aperture and a second optical path (138) having a second numerical aperture. The multi-beam configuration unit (110) orients the second optical path in a selected orientation in space relative to the first optical path. A scan system (120) illuminates a sample (104) with non-polarized light received from the multi-beam configuration unit (110) and directs light returning from the sample (104) to the first optical path and the second optical path. The multi-beam configuration unit (110) directs light returning from the sample (104), along the first optical path (148) and the second optical path (138), to an optical pathway (164) leading to a processing system (180). The processing system (180) performs optical coherence tomography motion analysis based on interference between light returning from the sample and a first reference signal.
