PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber for plant growth with high water absorption in which a biodegradable fiber is chemically bound to a water-absorbing component and a plant nutrient.SOLUTION: A fiber for plant growth has biodegradability and water absorption, and is bound to a compound containing at least one element, which is a fertilizer component essential to plant growth, selected from nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The fiber can be used as a sheet. The fiber can hold water essential to plant growth and gradually provide the fertilizer component to a plant with biodegradation of the fiber. Consequently, the present invention provides a fiber for plant growth which is free of a problem of environmental pollution and a fiber sheet comprising the same.
