Unit oral composition comprising as sole active ingredients • Beta vulgaris dry extract, • magnesium oxide, · ascorbic acid and • possibly, at least one of the following vitamins selected between vitamin B1 and vitamin D3 for use in the control of arterial hypertension, preferably mild to moderate, in which ascorbic acid and magnesium oxide are in weight ratios such as to guarantee a molar ratio between ascorbic acid and magnesium from a minimum of 0.25:1 to a maximum of 1:2. The association of these active ingredients is such that, once dispersed in acidic gastric fluid with a pH ranging from 1.5 to 2.5, it gives rise to the formation of a high-bioavailability magnesium ascorbate salt. The in situ formation of the ascorbate magnesium salt guarantees an excellent bioavailability of both magnesium and ascorbate at the enteric level where it is absorbed.
