Disclosed is a compound useful as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition, such as a pharmaceutical composition for treating chronic renal failure and/or diabetic nephropathy. Extensive studies are made for the purpose of finding a compound having an antagonistic activity on an EP4 receptor, and it is confirmed that a specific amide compound has an antagonistic activity on an EP4 receptor. The amide compound has an antagonistic activity on an EP4 receptor, and therefore can be used as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and/or treating various diseases associated with EP4, such as chronic renal failure and/or diabetic nephropathy.
