A method for calculating energy consumption is applied in a portable electric device for an user wearing. The method includes: providing a G-sensor for sensing a waveform variation, which is generated by the user stepping providing a pressure sensor for sensing a height variation by each step of the user providing a processor for computing an angle variation according to the waveform variation and the height variation and the processor computing the energy consumption of the user according to the angle variation. The height variation of the environment is considered in the method because makes the energy consumption of the user change when the user exercising therein. The method for calculating energy consumption is changed with the height variation of the environment in real time, so the accurate energy consumption is obtained by the method for the user as reference.
