PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibody for factor xa inhibitor and method for using the same.SOLUTION: One of the major limitations of anticoagulant therapy is the limitation of the ability to rapidly reverse anticoagulant activity in the case of treatment-related bleeding risk and in cases of overdosage or required emergency surgical intervention. Therefore, a specific effective antidote for all forms of anticoagulant therapy is highly desirable. The present invention relates to an antidote to an anticoagulant that targets factor Xa. The antidotes are factor Xa protein derivatives that bind to the factor Xa inhibitors thereby substantially neutralizing them but do not assemble into the prothrombinase complex. The derivatives described herein lack or have reduced intrinsic coagulant activity.
