A system and method for completing one or more stitches without pulling out and reloading the inserter. The suture threader includes a distal end having a body with a grip and a suture holding portion. The grip and suture holding portions are spaced apart to define a recess in the body. The tube of the grip portion extends towards the suture holding portion and holds the needle in it. The needle is slidable in the pipe between the retracted position and the extended position. The needle has a notch at the distal end to capture and secure the suture rim. In the retracted position, the distal end of the needle is in the canal of the gripping portion, and in the extended position, the distal end of the needle extends into the suture holding portion.
