The present invention discloses, among other things, a sensor system (100), comprising a sensor (102), adapted to be implanted in a subject, wherein the sensor is configured to measure one or more aspects of the subject and wherein the sensor comprises a sensor antenna (102d), a sensor reader (101, wherein the sensor reader (101) is adapted to be worn by the subject and comprises (1) a reader housing (202) containing an electronic circuit (204), (ii) a band (206) for releasably attaching the sensor reader (101) to the subject, (111) a reader antenna (101f) for coupling with the sensor antenna, wherein the reader antenna is electrically coupled to the electronic circuit, wraps around a body part of the subject, and provides power to and/or communicates with the sensor.
