PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crude drug and the like having a functional improvement action leading to the treatment of a spinal cord injury in a chronic stage (condition in which a long period of time has passed after injury).SOLUTION: The motor function improving action of a spinal cord injury mouse is examined by the administration of crude drug extract started from one month after the injury. As a result, the motor function improving action was found in sophora root and forsythia fruit extract, and matrine which is one of the ingredients in sophora root. Sophora root, forsythia fruit, and matrine are useful as a functional improving agent in a spinal cord injury in a chronic stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT【課題】脊髄損傷の慢性期(受傷後長期間を経過した状態)の治療につながるような機能改善作用を有する生薬等を提供することにある。【解決手段】脊髄損傷マウスにおいて、受傷後1か月後から生薬エキスを投与しその運動機能改善作用を検討した。その結果、苦参および連翹のエキス並びに苦参の成分の一つであるマトリンに運動機能改善作用が認められた。苦参および連翹並びにマトリンは、脊髄損傷の慢性期における機能改善剤として有用である。【選択図】図1
