PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a guide wire to retreat automatically from a needle tip upon separation of an inner needle from a catheter.SOLUTION: A catheter assembly 10 includes an inner needle 12, a housing 14, a catheter 16, a catheter hub 18, a guide wire 20 and a guide wire operation member 22.
