The present invention relates to a composition usable as a wound dressing or a part thereof, and a wound dressing containing the composition. More specifically, the present invention relates to a composition that destroys and kills bacteria in a biofilm and prevents biofilm formation. The solid composition includes a first component selected from the group consisting of chitosan, chitin, chitosan derivatives, chitin derivatives, and any combination thereof, and at least one tribasic acid.
