A spinal implant which is configured to be deployed between adjacent vertebralbodies. The implanthas at least one extendable support element with a retracted configuration tofacilitate deployment ofthe implant and an extended configuration so as to expand the implant andeffectively distract thedisc space, stabilize the motion segments and eliminate pathologic spinemotion. The implant has aminimal dimension in its unexpanded state that is smaller than the dimensionsof the neuroforamenthrough which it typically passes to be deployed within the intervertebralspace. The implant isprovided with a locking system having a plurality of linked locking elementsthat work in unison tolock the implant in an extended configuration. Bone engaging anchors also maybe provided toensure secure positioning.
