The present invention relates to a method to automatically calculate the effective amount of radiation exposure, automatically calculating the amount of radiation exposure in accordance with the body part of a patient, so as to correctly and automatically calculate the amount of radiation exposure in accordance with a body shape of the patient. According to the present invention, the method comprises the following steps of: receiving two-dimensional (2D) scout image； performing line scanning for the brightness of the image on a plurality of positions in a row direction of the scout image； calculating an intermediate value of each of pieces of line data to acquire a plurality of intermediate values； forming a graph based on the intermediate values； dividing an image of a body part exposed to radiation based on the graph； and calculating the amount of radiation exposure by each divided image of the body part to automatically calculate the amount of radiation exposure by each body part of the patient.본 발명은 환자의 신체 부위에 따른 방사선 조사량을 자동으로 계산하여 환자의 체형에 따른 방사선 조사량을 정확하게 자동으로 계산할 수 있는 방사선 유효 피폭량 자동 계산 방법에 관한 것으로 본 발명의 방사선 유효 피폭량 자동 계산 방법은 2차원 스카우트 영상을 제공받는 단계, 상기 스카우트 영상의 가로(row) 방향으로 상기 영상의 밝기에 관한 라인 스캐닝을 복수의 위치에서 수행하여 복수개의 라인 데이터를 획득하는 단계, 상기 복수개의 라인 데이터마다 중간값을 산출하여, 복수개의 중간값을 획득하는 단계, 상기 복수개의 중간값에 기반한 그래프를 형성하는 단계, 상기 그래프를 기초로 방사선이 조사되는 환자의 신체 영상 부위를 분할하는 단계, 상기 분할된 신체 영상 부위별로 조사된 방사선량을 계산하여 환자의 신체 부위별 피폭량을 자동으로 계산하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
