An endoscope (100) having a plurality of working sections (104) of diameter is disclosed. The endoscope includes a housing (102), a working section, and a rod lens optical system (514a-d). The housing is at the proximal end of the endoscope. The work segment is integral with the housing and extends therefrom. The work segment includes at least a first section and a second section. The first section is adjacent to the housing and the second section is at the distal end of the endoscope. The rod lens optical system is positioned at least partially within the first section of the work section and at least partially within the second section of the work section.
